ARTIST STATEMENT
I began my art career over 20 years ago, and work now primarily in natural light outdoors, and then I compose my studio pieces from various plein air studies. I do this in order to use them to understand the light in the landscape and the atmospheric conditions while staying true to color and tone as seen in real time. It is atmosphere and light that attracts the imagination when outdoors and leaves lasting impressions, which I work to capture. Of note, much of my plein air work is by pallet knife.
At this time I have completed my studies and have developed my craft by focusing on the atelier method of art education taught at the Boston Academy of Realist Art. It has informed my eye and honed my skills further as I continue to take my paints outdoors. Lucky me!
